Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q : What do I need to apply for housing in Japan?

A : Resident Card for foreigners, proof of income, certified documents of your guarantor(or the company you are working for) with their approval. Additional documentations may be required depending on the landlord.

Q : Are there any fees other than rent that I need to watch out for?

A : Other than rent and deposits, most properties require payment of Key Money, Brokerage Fee(intermediate fee) and Key Replacement Fee.

Q : Would I be able to complete the contract before my arrival in Japan?

A : You would be able to start the process while residing oversea, however, if it's your first time residing in Japan, you would not be able to pick up your Resident Card until your arrival. Please plan for at least 7 to 10 days of accommodation before move in.

Q : I'll only be in Japan for short period of time and I don't want to spend money on buying furnitures. What are my options?

A : There are monthly aparments that come furnished and most Shared Houses have kitchen and bath fully equipped except the individual rooms.

Q : I'm not very fluent in Japanese, would that be a problem when searching for an aparment in Japan?

A : Our multi-lingual staff would be able to assist you every step of the way of the leasing process. There are also foreigners-welcome properties that may be able to provide a soft landing if this is your first time in Japan.
